Scot Towner completed his Engineering degree at Texas Tech in 2005. Before attending TTU in 2002 Scot also worked at Strayer Voigt (SVI) for six years and filled roles ranging from field rep to production management and manufacturing machinist.
As part of his engineering training and work experience Scot is capable with a variety of engineering software packages, both CAD and CAM. CAD experience includes Solidworks COSMOS, Alibre, Inventor, and Pro Engineer with Mechanica. CAM software experiences include Mechsoft, MasterCAM, FeatureCAM, and BobCAD/CAM. Scot has enough exposure to various software systems to make learning a new package a short term process. Computer Finite Element Analysis and assembly motion and animation software are also areas where Scot is competent. CNC programming is closely related to CAM software knowledge but many times programs must be handwritten or edited. Most of Scot's CNC experience is with Fadal and Fanuc controls and Allen Bradley PLCs. Controls of other machines (or even other Fanuc controls) may have differing command sets requiring a short time to gain familiarity. Machine experience includes CNC milling, turning, grinding, and EDM (electro discharge machining--wire and ram). Scot also follows several manufacturing industry publications to stay abreast of new technology and applications.
Lynn Harrison (Production Supervisor) has worked with Towner during the design, development, and production phases of the slide action 500 S&W rifle. Prior to his tenure with Towner MFG he worked at Strayer Voigt, Inc in Grand Prairie, TX. He began at Strayer during the start-up phase of that business and assisted in the development of finishing processes and efficient assembly procedures. Highlights of his skill set include expert abilities in finish work for metals and wood, operation of high energy and standard automated finishing equipment, CNC machine operation, and metal oxide (bluing) finishing with alloy and stainless steels. In addition to his manufacturing talents Lynn is trained and experienced in print shop operation and personnel management along with press operation and maintenance. He has a talented eye for graphic design and aesthetics of both printed material and high quality firearms, a well rounded industrial artist.
